Summary of the EPIA / PV Cycle statement:

The reports cited above and the experience of the PV industry to date show that the environmental, social and cost benefits of a self-regulated recycling scheme as proposed by PV Cycle will exceed the benefits that could be anticipated from including PV in the revision of the WEEE Directive and avoid significant WEEE-related costs.The fact that PV waste will remain minimal until at least 2020 further argues for the continued exclusion of PV from the current review of the WEEE Directive.Significant work is currently carried out by PV Cycle in order to launch a take-back system by the end of this year in Germany. All efforts will be made in order to expand gradually such a system to the overall EU.
