On 5th July 2007 the association PV CYCLE was
founded in Brussels.
The objective and purpose of the association is to promote
protection of the climate and the environment by encouraging increased use
and sustainability of PV technology.
Therefore PV CYCLE intends to implement an overall waste management and
recycling policy for the industry which guarantees the highest economically
feasible collection and recovery rates as well as appropriate treatment
of waste PV modules.
The organisation aims to cover the entire life cycle of the PV modules,
primarily through providing adequate research, evaluation and structuring
of best paths and methodologies for waste management of PV modules under
consideration of the various national, supranational and international legislation
and to establish adequate structures to pursue these objectives. All PV
companies active in Europe with accountability for photovoltaic waste can
join the society.
PV CYCLE is determined to inform and encourage the entire PV industry in
order to further their search for the best possible solution for them to
fulfil their responsibility with respect to economic, ecological and sustainability
issues as well as legal responsibility and the image impact on the PV sector.
In addition it wants to ensure and provide sufficient and reliable financial
means for all relevant tasks, research and preparatory work related to voluntary
take back and recycling systems for the entire PV Industry.
The association pursues exclusively and directly non-profit objectives in
line with the chapter on tax-privileged objectives of the fiscal code.
The organisation is closely linked to the European Photovoltaic Industry
Association (EPIA) and national PV industry associations. Lobby work in
the field of PV waste treatment is done by EPIA on the European and by the
national associations on the European Member Stateslevel in close consultation
with PV CYCLE.
